Jürgen Klopp expressed his regret over Xabi Alonso's recent sacking and reiterated that he does not feel "triggered" about the Real Madrid managerial position at all..

Former Liverpool legendary head coach Jürgen Klopp expressed his regret on Wednesday over Xabi Alonso's recent sacking and reiterated that he is not interested in the Real Madrid managerial position at all.

Klopp made these remarks during an interview with German online media outlet Servus TV. Although Real Madrid has confirmed Alvaro Arbeloa as interim head coach until the end of the season following Alonso's departure, rumours surrounding Klopp and the Los Blancos still have not subsided.

Klopp said, "My phone has indeed rung many times these past few days, but none of the calls have been from Madrid. However, yes, there are a few people around me who feel they must contact me directly to ask me about certain matters."

"First of all, I know what questions you all want to ask me, and I know where these questions are headed. I know certain rumours have been circulating online for some time, but I want to say that I have absolutely no interest in these so-called questions, and the cause of this matter has nothing to do with me. That might be the next question you want to ask me."

"Just that alone makes me think that the current direction of public opinion seems very wrong."

"Yes, I was also very surprised by what happened, to be precise, extremely surprised. When I received many text messages informing me of this, I immediately responded with many different emojis."

"I genuinely feel very sorry for him because I think he is a great coach. I must reiterate, but this matter has absolutely nothing to do with me. This won't trigger any further reaction regarding me."

"I think the pressure you face when you come to a new environment and take over from a legendary coach with a unique way of managing his team, like Carlo Ancelotti, is indescribable. You might want to bring your new ideas to the players and implement them, but it seems this challenge was too great for him this time."

"If someone like Xabi Alonso, who demonstrated exceptional coaching abilities during his two years at Bayer Leverkusen, is forced to leave after only six months at Madrid, considering his age and experience, you can see something has happened."

"On the other hand, this also reflects the reality of the football industry; you no longer have unlimited time to prove yourself. At the same time, let's not forget that Real Madrid's goals and expectations are enormous."

"This is evident from the fact that they made this decision the day after losing to Barcelona in the cup final, when the public outcry was still at its peak."

When asked if he favoured Alonso's return to Liverpool as its new head coach in the near future, the legendary former Reds head coach said he believed Alonso would remain in Spain to finish his "unfinished businees."

This implies that Klopp still fully supports his successor, Arne Slot.

With the release of this interview, it further confirms that Klopp is indeed content with his current role as Head of Global Soccer at the Red Bull Group, and reaffirms his promise two years ago when he stepped down as head coach of the reigning Premier League champions that he was exhausted and did not want to coach again in the near future.

Klopp's remarks effectively refuted the inaccurate report by Sky Sports' resident renowned German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claimed that the former would "seriously consider Real Madrid's offer."

Plettenberg made the surprising exclusive claim on Tuesday (January 13th) that Klopp is "ready to seriously consider the possibility of the La Liga giants appointing him as their new head coach."
